KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, 24 SEPTEMBER 2026 – Tradewinds (M) Berhad (TWM), one of Malaysia’s leading food companies, and Tanmiah Food Company (Tanmiah), one of Saudi Arabia’s leading vertically integrated poultry and food producers and listed on the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul: 2281), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2026 to explore opportunities to develop, process, brand and distribute halal protein products in Malaysia and across the wider Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
The collaboration brings together Tanmiah’s technical expertise and integrated poultry production capabilities with TWM’s Malaysian market presence, commercial network and regional trade capabilities, creating a framework to assess Malaysia’s potential as a regional platform for halal protein production, processing and exports.
The partnership will initially assess the importation of Saudi-produced chicken products into Malaysia. Building on this market access opportunity, the companies will explore the potential for further processing in Malaysia, including possible joint investment in a processing facility serving retail, foodservice and quick-service restaurant (QSR) channels.
By combining imported supply with local processing capabilities, the collaboration could create opportunities to add value within Malaysia before expanding into selected APAC markets. The companies will also assess Malaysia’s potential as a regional production and export base, supported by the country’s established halal ecosystem, food manufacturing capabilities and strategic access to ASEAN markets.
The scope of cooperation extends beyond processing and distribution, with TWM and Tanmiah also assessing potential future investments across the poultry value chain, including farming, hatcheries and poultry processing operations in Malaysia.
In parallel, the companies will explore the development of a global halal, sustainable and healthy protein brand, supported by dual halal certification. The proposed platform would combine Tanmiah’s product development and poultry expertise with TWM’s understanding of the Malaysian market, commercial channels and regional opportunities.
“This collaboration reflects the opportunity to connect Malaysia’s strengths in halal, food manufacturing and regional trade with Tanmiah’s established capabilities in integrated poultry production,” said Dennis Foo, Group Chief Executive Officer of TWM.
“For TWM, the opportunity goes beyond bringing products into the Malaysian market. We are exploring how Malaysia can serve as a platform for processing, brand development and regional distribution, creating greater value locally while connecting quality halal products with consumers across Asia-Pacific.
“The partnership also opens the door to longer-term opportunities across the poultry value chain. We look forward to working with Tanmiah to assess these opportunities and identify areas where both parties can create sustainable commercial value.”
Zulfiqar Hamadani, Group Chief Executive Officer of Tanmiah Food Company, said the collaboration marks an important step forward in Tanmiah’s international growth journey.
“Malaysia’s strong halal ecosystem and strategic position in Asia-Pacific, combined with Tanmiah’s integrated poultry capabilities, provide an exciting platform to explore new opportunities for halal protein.
“Together with Tradewinds, we look forward to exploring ways to bring trusted, high-quality and premium halal products to consumers across the region while building stronger connections between Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and the wider Asia-Pacific market.”
As part of MIHAS 2026, TWM and Tanmiah are sharing a joint exhibition presence, providing an opportunity to introduce Tanmiah’s product portfolio to the Malaysian market and strengthen engagement with potential customers and industry stakeholders.
Visitors to the joint booth can experience Tanmiah’s product innovations through tasting sessions featuring its Frozen Breaded Chicken and Taste Secrets marinated chicken ranges, both recent winners at the Product of the Year (POY) Gulf Edition.
The proposed collaboration remains subject to feasibility assessments, due diligence, valuation where applicable, the necessary board and shareholder approvals, all required regulatory and halal certification approvals, and the execution of definitive agreements between the parties. The non-binding MoU provides a framework for the
parties to evaluate the identified opportunities and does not constitute a commitment to proceed with any specific investment, facility or commercial arrangement.
